The springs of Ahjumawi are an oasis of sorts, nestled in the middle of a high mountain desert landscape. 80 Miles East from Redding, and several miles to the North of Mc Arthur, the trek begins at the Rat Farm Boat Launch.

Crystal Springs is the first real spring action you will find at about 2 miles in. There some nice areas to explore, with bubbling spring water, a stone fish traps used by the indians. Ja-She Creek Springs is another mile in, and makes the 3 mile trek well worthwhile. The water is crystal clear, and the remnants of Indian fish trapping ponds are still there in the upper pool.

Read about this natural treasure in the Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park Brochure.
