Bolivar Lookout is in the Klamath National Forest just West of Callahan California. Once in Callahan the way up is straight forward with little chance of getting lost.
Once on the dirt road the grade keeps getting steeper as you go and does not let up until the lookout is reached. Bolivar is one of those lookouts that does not sit on the prominence of the mountain but lower on the ridge. Regardless, Bolivar is an adventure with a great payoff.
We came from Redding CA on motorcycles and chose to take the scenic twisty route. Up 299 West, right on Trinity Dam Blvd through Lewiston to Rush Creek Rd. and Highway 3 to Callahan. Gas is available at both Trinity Center and Lewiston if needed on the way out.
Bolivar will not disappoint a weekend adventure ride. It has great views with a fantastic winding road getting you there. Trailhead Pizza in Coffee Creek is highly recommended on the way back for lunch. They serve up a great wood fired pizza that will hit the spot.
