Kanaka Peak is nestled in the Southern corner of the Whiskey National Recreation Area, and provides great views of the surrounding area.  The length of the ride in this track is 10.4 miles long, and centers on the 2546 ft. tall Kanaka Peak.  A hardy ride for most riders, with some very nice descent action.

I hadn’t ridden this for eighteen years so I took the Kanaka Peak cutoff on the way down, and within minutes I remembered the technical downhill to come.  This route down might be considered steep, and treacherous, but if you put the saddle in your gut, with enough front brake pressure, it is very easy.  Easy enough to do with Michelin Mountain Rock tires, I did, and without a slip.

The alternate downhill would be to turn right at the Paige Bar Crossing, this will produce some very nice single track sure to not disappoint.
